People recovering from severe mental health challenges benefit from the support of others who have had similar experiences and have found their way through them. Vibrant’s peer support program, Another Way, operates on this principle. Another Way is staffed by peers that can provide advocacy and support to other adults as they embark on their journey to wellness. These peer specialists promote recovery, hope, and social connection from the unique point of view of someone who has been there too.
Another Way staff utilize their understanding and compassion to guide program participants along the road to independence. The program helps participants navigate housing, benefits, treatment referrals, substance misuse recovery support, and peer support groups. The program is available in both English and Spanish. By building a stronger support network and connecting with those who share similar experiences, we can empower people in recovery and demonstrate firsthand how to cope.
Who It’s For:
Adults in recovery from serious mental health difficulties in any of the five boroughs. Another Way can also help those needing assistance obtaining supportive housing (HRA 2010E).
