Single Source Funding Notice
On November 10, SAMHSA announced a Single Source Funding Notice which awarded $152 million to Vibrant Emotional Health in preparation for 988’s launch as the new dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Vibrant Emotional Health is currently preparing its response and we look forward to sharing information with the crisis center network and our partners.
As the administrator of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline since its inception in 2005, Vibrant has long championed the need to enhance capacity and infrastructure for the Lifeline. We look forward to utilizing this funding opportunity to prepare for the launch of 988 as the new access point for the Lifeline by strengthening and expanding network and technological infrastructure to better serve the Lifeline centers across all modalities, enhancing capacity at our national backup crisis centers, creating national trainings for crisis counselors across the country, and strengthening partnerships with persons with lived expertise, community leaders and organizations to increase equity and population-based supports for the network.
