FCC Designates National 988 Number for the Suicide Prevention Lifeline

Today, the FCC designated 988 as the new nationwide number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, a vital development for mental health and crisis services across the United States. Vibrant Emotional Health released the following statement regarding this important development:

The FCC expects the transition to the 988 phone number to be completed by July 2022. In the meantime, the current number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline – 1-800-273-8255 – remains in effect in all 50 states.
