Are your children chaperoning you this year at the Vibrant Campout?

Kid's Camp is back this year! It's a safe space for little ones to congregate without the 'rents bugging them. Simply drop off your precious ones with our Kid's Camp volunteers, and we'll have playthings, a kiddie pool, and some fun activities for them. It's a great way for our youngest members to get to know one another and for you to have a break.

Bringing the Kids? Please LET US KNOW!

To start the ball rolling, getting a headcount of all the children who might be using Kid's Camp would be extremely helpful. Please send me an email (gregoryfagan@gmail.com) ASAP with the name(s) and age(s) of your child(ren), and tell us what time of day you think Kid's Camp would work best for your family. Knowing who'll be joining us will help us to create Kid's Camp to meet your kids' needs. Once I get a list of who's attending, I'll follow up with a volunteer sign-up sheet. Please feel free to add any suggestions on how to make Kid's Camp SO much fun that the big kids will be jealous.

Parents and Kid-Friendly Folks, Please Volunteer!!

In the spirit of Vibrant campout, we ask each parent whose kids are enjoying Kid's Camp to volunteer some time so other parents can kick back and play with the big kids. If you love kids and would like to meet them and their parents, please volunteer to spend an hour or two playing under the trees with the wee ones. Jugglers, puppeteers, fingerpainters, water splashers, and wacky dancers are especially encouraged to sign up.

Protecting Kid's Hearing

Also, a word from LadiBug regarding hearing protection for infants and children:

Ever feel like your kids don't listen? Well, let's make sure it's not because they can't hear you! Did you know that cotton and tissue paper are useless - they only reduce sound by less than 7 dB?

You can protect your kids hearing and cognitive/language development by:

- Keeping them out of the "danger zone" of a sound system! We'll post some signs showing safe zones for kids to enjoy dancing to our groovy beats!

- Investing in a good pair of children's size earplugs that protect against loud noise AND a pair of swim earplugs that protect from swimmer's ear infections. Check out www.macksearplugs.com for retailers that offer silicone earplugs for kids under six, foam earplugs for older kids, and swim earplugs.

For more information on hearing protection, see www.hearnet.com.

Thanks, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
